Drinkies Crew at the Taverna Koka Roka, Kalambaka, Greece

Every year, a friend of mine picks a bar somewhere in the world and a date and time. Whoever shows up, shows up. It makes for a great excuse to travel. I've only managed to make it to two of them so far: one at a small bar on an island off the coast of Thailand, and another at a place in Kalambaka, Greece. Others have been in Spain, Costa Rica, Vietnam, and Ireland. The next one is in Prague this October, although I sadly won't be able to make it.

Tips and Advice:

• Don't try to over-plan your trip. Have a rough idea of where you'd like to go and when, but keep things open and flexible. Maybe you'll want to hang out longer in one place, and skip another entirely.
