Destination Bachelor Party Ideas

How and where to plan the appropriate tribute to the bachelor

Your best buddy is gearing up to take "the walk," and it's your job to put together his bachelor party. With the big day approaching fast, you need an appropriate tribute to his final nights as a single man. Here are some tips and recommendations to help you plan a memorable extended bachelor party getaway weekend.

Let's start with the basics. Make sure your destination is close enough to be practical for a long weekend, fits budget expectations, offers quality fun and/or unusual activities, and has the kind of quality nightclubs and entertainment necessary for an unforgettable bachelor party. Be sure to take the groom-to-be's personality into the equation and solicit ideas for fun activities from other attendees. Consider these destinations:

New Orleans offers plenty of wild times, whether you are going during Mardi Gras or not. You could go to the Cats Meow, a karaoke club for the unrestrained reveler (beware, though, their 24 hour webcam streams over their web site) where you'll be sure to find fun people. Take a cab or limo over to the two storied Balcony Bar, Razoo Bar & Patio, or the Palm Court Jazz Cafe to hear some incredible live music. No trip to Bourbon Street would be complete without a visit to Pat O'Briens, home of the famous Hurricane. (still very popular after Katrina). Then, still on Bourbon Street, hit Temptations Club, a strip club as raucous as the street it's on.

South Beach, Florida offers high-energy, girls walking around town in bikinis, beaches, sun, and some of the hottest nightclubs anywhere. Check out Nikki Beach Club, Liquid, and Amnesia for all-night partying and Club Madonna for exotic dancers on three different stages. We recommend finding a hotel right in the vicinity of the clubs you want to hit so you don't have to worry about transportation.

In Los Cabos, you can take advantage of great fishing and golf in the Mexican sun amongst the famous arches of Cabo and the Sea of Cortez. Then, enjoy amazing clubs like El Squid Roe, a two story dance club with lots of sweat and body shots. Other great nightlife includes the Giggling Marlin and Sammy Hagar's famous Cabo Wabo. By day, soak up the sun and sights at the white sand Medano Beach.

If none of these destinations sound good, you can certainly plan a great bachelor party to Las Vegas instead.

As the #1 wing man for the bachelor, you should always have hand mints, limo/cab numbers, travel guides, cell phone numbers, room numbers, hotel contact info, and plenty of cash for drinks, transportation, snacks, gratuities, or just plain gratuitous spending. Plan thoroughly enough (with help from others in the group) so that the bachelor just has to show up and have the time of his life.
