Val d'Isère, France
Easy access to extensive backcountry skiing, great group chalet and villa accommodations
Val d'Isère, the host to some events during the '92 Winter Games, is one of Europe's top group ski destinations. It is one of the largest ski areas in France, with a well-managed lift system to handle the influx of winter sports enthusiasts. The vast extent of off-slope runs served by the lifts here attracts experts from the United States, Europe, and beyond. Intermediates who love untracked snow can schedule a guided day off-slope or enjoy the endless variety of intermediate runs in the resort area, where nearly half of the resort's runs are intermediate. The entire region of Val d'Isère delivers spectacular views and prime skiing!
The vacation package and accommodation options here make it possible for groups to save a substantial amount of money. Rent a chalet, villa, or apartment with your group and shop at the supermarket downtown and you can take some of the bite out of your France ski getaway. Try to avoid holiday and French school vacation crowds. At other times, it's possible to get discounts on activities and set up private group ski instruction. The resort stays open until May 8th and two glaciers further extend the ski season with from mid-June to mid-August with four lifts and 10 easy and intermediate trails.
Val d'Isère offers plenty of good dining options, from cafes to higher-end restaurants. You'll also find bustling nightlife throughout the ski season. There's no doubt that your group will find Val d'Isère a great place to indulge in all of your active pursuits!
