Whistler/Blackcomb, British Columbia
Party scene, downtown shopping, convenience, loads of terrain, "fresh tracks"
For North America, it's tough to beat Whistler as "the" destination for group ski trips. It's very convenient—just a short trip from Vancouver, B.C., plus the low-altitude base makes it very easy to acclimatize. As for the skiing, the Whistler and Blackcomb areas offer 5,280 vertical feet of skiing and over 8,000 acres of skiable terrain, with endless options for all levels and skills. Early birds can even sign up for Whistler's Fresh Tracks and get early lift privileges for the first shot at fresh powder on the slopes (plus a hearty breakfast). At the end of the ski day, the mountains' shared base area offers an incredibly lively party scene, which spills out into the downtown ski village—where the festive atmosphere continues through the night.
With something for everyone, Whistler's charismatic, charming downtown village has everything your group could desire; cafes, international stores and over 100 top notch restaurants that cater to all tastes including Chinese, French, Greek, Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Thai cuisine. For the shoppers, there are more than 150 shops offering gifts, clothes, native art, and jewelry. Excellent group accommodation options are available throughout Whistler, including in-town condos, ski-in/ski-out vacation home rentals, and luxury hotels. Get a place close to town and you'll be able to walk everywhere!
