Mt. Bachelor Skiing

I love central Oregon, and Mt. Bachelor is one of my favorite places to ski anywhere.

I've done at least five group ski trips here. The Outback and Northwest chairs are high-speed, wiht long runs, short lift lines, and a solid varieto of intermediate and expert runs. If you get good weather, then you will also be able to take the summit chair, which takes you to some great wide-open runs and bowls. If it's windy, the Summit chair is quite likely to be closed all or most of the day.

The closest lodgings are in Seventh Mountain Resort and the largest resort nearby is Sunriver, which is about 20 minutes from the mountain. The largest nearby town is Bend, one of the fastest growing towns in the country. I like Bend's downtown, and the newly-renovated Old Mill District is worth visitning (Anthony's ther has a great view, lots of seating capacity, and solid seafood)

  • For apres-ski, you can't beat The Deschutes Brewery in downtown Bend...great beer & food, fun, and popular
  • Mt. Bachelor is usually open in late Spring, we skiied one day and golfed the next in April (tons of golf in the area)
  • There are direct flights to Redmond/Bend, but only from Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco
