Jackson Hole Skiing

submitted by brian

Buddies ski trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites 49er. It wasn't anything special, but it did have a hot tub and was very conveniently located. So much so that we didn't bother renting a car. We just took the bus to and from the mountain each day, and walked to the bars and restaurants that we tried (see list). Even walked to and through the Wendy's drive-through one night (don't expect them to serve you, though).

Jackson Hole is a fantastic place to ski. There's an awesome amount of terrain. Some thrilling stuff. We went before they closed the summit tram -- but you can still access the summit via other lifts, and the summit will be directly serviced from the bottom again starting in December 2008.

Despite its remote location, Jackson is relatively convenient to get to. We had people coming from San Francisco, Denver, and Seattle, and all were serviced by direct flights.

Tips and Advice:

  • bag the car, and enjoy apres-ski at Mangy Moose to the fullest
  • add some thrills to your bills by drawing a credit card out of the hat to see who pays!
  • the best food we had was the wild game at Blue Lion Restaurant
  • great people watching at Silver Dollar Bar & Grill...did pool and beers here
