How The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay stands out
YOUR BEST SELF
My whole thing is finding a hotel that helps me become my best self. Comfort, luxury, and fun times are what I’m looking for.
The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay is situated with a spectacular cliff top ocean view. The location truly takes you to another world. Just what you want to get yourself into your best self.
Rooms are comfortable and the whole resort just oozes luxury.
The Sunday brunch is an amazing treat. It's super expensive and ranks as a worthy once in a lifetime big time spend.
The views are stunning from inside the hotel and around the property. Inspire your best self.
AVOID THE FEES
I researched the fees for the top hotels in the area. The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay packs a lot of fees and it's still a lifetime dream for many people.
Resort Fee Services
The resort implements a $50 USD per room, per night resort fee.
Services and amenities included in the resort fee are:
- Glass of wine during check-in (daily at the front desk from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
- Wireless, high-speed Internet access in guest rooms and common areas
- Business center access
- Unlimited local telephone calls (within a 12-mile radius only)
- Access to the spa’s co-ed whirlpool, locker rooms, relaxation lounges, whirlpool, sauna and steam room
- Daily group exercise classes
- Fitness center access
- Bottled water and towels
- Water aerobics equipment
- Family board games and videos
- Putter and wedge for use on practice green from Half Moon Bay Golf Links Pro Shop
- Access to tennis courts, racquets and ball machine
- PressReader, a Digital Newsstand
- $54 USD per night, per car
That’s $104 per night all together for the resort fee and parking. That is ouch. They even charge for day parking if you’re not a guest.
Now some people may get a lot of value from the group exercise class, relaxation lounges, and putter use. That's not going to be everyone though.
In the end, this hotel is often $1,000 per night, so it’s a great rush to stay for free. The additional fees are just something to accept to stay in this ritzy property. If you’re looking to save money, and who isn’t, eat your meals away from the hotel restaurants – there are plenty of places to take in the views.
Why it’s good with points
The views are amazing and the service wonderful. A room here will cost about a thousand dollars a night including tax. Getting that for free makes this good with points, even with the additional fees.
Nights here are 50,000 to 70,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. A credit card sign-up bonus of 75,000 or 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points is good for at least one night in this dream property. That’s goof for a room that’s regularly $1,000 per night.
Any time you can get $1,000 of value from a credit card sign-up bonus, that is really great. If you can manage more with a big sign up bonus or getting a 50,000 point night, that will give you even more value.
As always, have a partner also get the credit card bonus - that's double the points and double the nights.
Get a Marriott Bonvoy credit card and make your reservation for the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay.
Sapphire points are worth 1 Marriott Bonvoy point. They give you a way to get even more Bonvoy points.
Once you get your sign up bonus with the Marriott Credit Card then get a Sapphire Preferred card.
