World of Hyatt Credit Card Review

Best hotel points value

World of Hyatt

on Chase's website

The World of Hyatt Credit Card from Chase has the best hotel points value.  This points value means that you can get a night in a Category 1 hotel for 5,000 points.  Those hotels can cost $200.

Your sign-up bonus is 50,000 bonus points – that’s enough for ten nights in a Category 1 hotel.

Even the most luxury resorts are 25,000 to 30,000 Hyatt points.  I’ve booked nights over New Year’s when the cash cost was over $1,000.  That’s a really luxurious way to get big value from your points.

Plus, there are over 1,100 hotels worldwide where you can use your Hyatt points.

World of Hyatt Credit Card – Top Benefits

Big Sign-up Bonus

The big sign-up bonus is one of the top benefits of the card for sure.  Point for point Hyatt has the most valuable hotel points.  So the bonus can really get you some great stays.

I stayed at the Hyatt House Colorado Springs for 5,000 points per night.  It’s a great property and our room had a full kitchen, plus it came with free breakfast.  The cash cost of our room was about $200 per night when we stayed – definitely great value for us.

Best Value for hotel points

Hyatt points are the most valuable hotel points.  The number of points you need to book a night is simply the lowest among the rewards programs.

A top-tier Hyatt property will be 30,000 points per night.  That seems like a lot.  But consider that a similar night could be 100,000 points with other hotel programs.

And there aren’t actually many 30,000 point nights with Hyatt.  For them 25,000 seems to be more popular – and those are really amazing hotels and resorts.

Bottom line, when you earn a Hyatt point you’re getting the most valuable Hyatt point – get as many as you can, that’s what I say.

Hyatt Credit Card - Annual Free night

Receive one free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort every year after your cardmember anniversary.  One night in a Category 4 is worth 15,000 points in the Hyatt system.  That’s a nice perk and a nice place to stay.

Here are some of my favorite Category 4 hotels:

Hyatt Regency Jersey City – with NYC views

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa

Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor

Hyatt Place Park City

Second Annual Free night

Get 1 additional free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort if you spend $15,000 during your cardmember anniversary year.

That second free night is a big benefit.  Just think.  Purchase $15,000 using the card.  You’ll get the first and second free nights plus at least 15,000 points.  That’s enough points for 3 nights in a Category 1-4 hotel.

Automatic Discoverist status

The Chase Hyatt Credit Card comes with automatic Discoverist status.

Discoverist status benefits include:

-10% bonus points for paid Hyatt stays

-Free premium internet

-Free bottled water

-Room upgrade (as available at check-in) – preferred room within type booked

-Late check-out (as available at some locations) – 2pm

-American Airlines Aadvantage bonus

I have really been helped at check-in and each time they have mentioned my Discoverist status.  Above and beyond the benefits above, I feel that they really do everything they can for their guests with status.

Path to Higher Status

For big spenders the World of Hyatt credit card has a path to higher status.  These higher levels of status are Explorist and Globalist – and they are super valuable, although difficult to get.

Explorist requires that you stay at World of Hyatt properties for 30 nights in one year.  Globalist requires 60 nights.

The World of Hyatt credit cards comes with 5 qualifying nights per year.  That means that you will then need 25 more nights for Explorist or 55 more nights for Globalist.

The World of Hyatt credit card also gives you 2 additional nights for each $5,000 in purchases.

So even without staying a single night you would earn Explorist with $65,000 in purchases and Globalist with $140,000.

Of course, for most people they get status with a mix of purchases and hotel stays.

World of Hyatt Credit Card – Final Thoughts

The World of Hyatt credit card has the best hotel points value.  The points from the sign-up bonus and from purchases using the card are valuable simply because it takes far fewer points to book with Hyatt than the other hotel brands.

You can book 1,100 hotels and resorts with World of Hyatt points.  There are many dream vacations among them and the overall quality is high.

The annual free night and chance to earn a second annual free night mean we can get a bonus stay every year.

The automatic Discoverist status provides us with benefits such as bonus points, free water, and late check-out.  And in my experience having status has given great benefits when visiting World of Hyatt hotels.

The World of Hyatt credit card has a lot to offer those of us looking to get out and become our best self.
